Here are the types of clients who come to me for help with their social media

Gone are the days where businesses toyed with the idea of being online or not. The reality is, if you're not online these days, you may as well not be in business. Sure, you may not need a full-blown, multi-page website, but social channels are a must-do.

When people enquire, they usually ask me, 'Who are your social media management services for?'.

And the answer is anyone who runs a business and wants customers to find them!

Think about what you do. How do you find items or services you want?

You'd either do an online search or ask people you trust to refer you to someone. It's what most of us will do (ok, perhaps not our oldies but let's not underestimate them either!).

There is no 'typical' client when it comes to social media management

If you want to deliver expert content to your audience, grow your audience, and possibly increase your business revenue using social media, then you're an ideal client!

My clients are widely varied. I work with property advisors, HR consultants, Bookkeepers, project managers, recruitment firms, copywriters, receptionists, coaches, a hairdresser, to name a few.

I love that I get to work with various clients and help them with social media success despite their industry.

Should all businesses post the same type of social media content?

Regardless of your business or the industry you sit in, the 4 types of content will always apply. You just need to be a little creative to adapt it to each business.

Let's have a look at the 4 content types using my amazing coffee roasters as an example.

1.      Education

Sharing your knowledge and giving your audience quick tips and advice will help you become known as an expert.

E.g. How to use a milk frother without burning your milk and causing your coffee to taste horrible.

2.      Inspirational

Sharing your favourite quotes or photos and funny and happy stories from you or others will always be winning content.

E.g. Share a photo of your ideal space when you're having your morning coffee.

3.      Connection

Create posts where you encourage people to reach out and connect with you. But when they do – make sure you reply (even if you wait for business hours).

E.g. Let's find Australia's favourite coffee flavour! Join in by sharing your favourite below.

4.      Promotional

Promotional posts are great when done in moderation, are subtle and fun (just don't do it 24/7 without any other content types).

E.g. Want to win a month's worth of Melbourne's best coffee? Like this post, share it on your page and tag your mates. MMM, coffee beats lockdown blues – get on it! 

How do you come up with ideas for your social media posts?

If you write blogs or create videos or podcasts, these are the perfect way to get started with repurposing your content for social media.

Here's a checklist of some ways you can repurpose your content. It works for anyone, in any industry:

  • Create a series of blogs

  • Post articles to industry sites (become a guest blogger)

  • Turn your blogs into a webinar or a podcast

  • Create an infographic or chart people can use and share

  • Post your blogs on sites like Quora, where people ask questions

  • Go live and create a series of Insta stories or Facebook lives

  • Use your blogs to create an eBook tempter that you follow up with email marketing to upsell to your course or program

  • Break up longer blogs into shorter ones and use them for social media snippets
